Filmmaker James Cameron is expected to regains rights to The Terminator in 2019, and is planning to work on a new film with Tim Miller, it’s been revealed.
Sources told Deadline that Cameron is in talks with the Deadpool director to conclude the battle between Skynet and humanity once and for all.
Cameron hasn’t been involved with The Terminator since selling the rights to the franchise for $1 before directing Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and subsequently moving on to other projects. He’s had no hand in the three films that have since followed, or the (actually rather good) TV spin-off series, The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Very little else is known, but Cameron has to finish another 4 Avatar movies before anything else, so it’s likely to be a while until Arnie – presumably – is back in black.
