The Crystal Maze Is Coming Back To TV, Richard Ayoade Will Host New 20 New Episodes

After a successful one-off revival as part of Channel 4’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign in October it has been announced that cult TV show The Crystal Maze is to return to screens for a full length run.

The new series will see IT Crowd’s Richard Ayoade take over from Stephen Merchant (and more famously, Richard O’Brien) on presenting duties, for 20 hour-long episodes.

Unlike the recent celebrity fronted special, which was filmed at London’s Crystal Maze Live attraction, the new shows will see regular Joe Public take on challenges in a purpose-built maze spanning over 30,000 feet, devised by the original production designer James Dillon.

The planned air date of the new episodes has yet to be announced.
