Google Unveil New VR Headset, Daydream View

Virtual Reality tech is all over the place right now, with options ranging from high end gaming headsets like HTC’s Vive, the Oculus Rift and the PlayStation PSVR being joined by the more affordable Samsung Gear VR and Google’s own Cardboard setups, which work in tandem with the user’s mobile phone.

Descried as “VR wherever you are”, Google’s latest announcement is the Daydream View, akin to the Samsung Gear VR unit, which allows you to slot a compatible phone into the stylish fabric headset to experience a range of VR experiences.

Experience high quality, mobile virtual reality with Daydream View. The soft, lightweight headset keeps you comfortable and the simple, smart controller puts you in control of the action. Explore new worlds, kick back in your personal VR cinema, and play immersive games like never before. Just drop in Pixel, or any Daydream-ready phone, to get started.

Due next month the Daydream View will come packaged with a simple 2-button remote controller to navigate content, and, google say, is 30% lighter than similar devices.

Daydream View will be available this November for £69GBP/$79USD in Slate grey, with Snow and Crimson colour variants to follow shortly after.
