Xbox exclusive Crackdown 3 has been wowing visitors to Gamescom this week with a rather impressive new world destruction model being demoed on stage.
Dave Jones, the game’s director, has now confirmed however that Crackdown 3’s reliance on cloud based tech means that this level of destruction will only be available in the game’s multiplayer mode.
“Yes, [destruction is] exclusive to the multiplayer mode,” Jones said, speaking to IGN.
Asked if you can destroy buildings in single player, he continued “No, you can’t, and in some respects that goes against the grain of what Crackdown is […] we really wanted to create a new multiplayer experience that bent that.”
“You have to be online for multiplayer, and at that point we can connect to the cloud and really expand the experience.”
Specifics regarding the title’s multiplayer aspect are currently unknown, but Jones has said fans can expect more than “a simple deathmatch” from the experience.
Crackdown 3 is due to launch sometime in Summer 2016.
