Sony’s TGS conference saw a trailer for the new Resident Evil title – Resident Evil Revelations 2 – and whilst it was announced Chris & Jill wouldn’t return, the game’s protagonist were, at that point, unknown.
Now, a few new details have emerged, including the names of two playable lead characters, Claire Redfield of Resident Evil 2 & Code Veronica, and Moira Burton, series regular Barry Burton’s daughter.
Revelations 2’s producer, Michiteru Okabe told GamesMaster that the new title will continue to bring well-recieved elements from the first Revelations, including “unspeakable horrors and unique gameplay experiences”.
“We started development on Revelations 2 with the intention of building upon two of the best-received features of the first title,” he told the magazine.
“[We focused on] the survival horror atmosphere, where the player feels a sense of tension and fear at what lies behind every door and down each dark corridor, and the dramatic serial story structure.
“In particular we’re taking the story to the next level by crafting the twists and turns of each nerve-wracking plot point so that they slowly build up to dramatic cliff-hangers that will leave players on the edge of their seats, anxious to see what happens next.”
Resident Evil Revelations is expected to launch in Japan early 2015, with a Western release to follow.
