Sony’s SmartBand SWR10 Revealed At CES 2014

Alongside the new Xperia Z1S and the Z1 Compact mobile phones, Sony have used this years Consumer Electronic Show to announce a further on-the-go gadget – the SmartBand SWR10.

Sony’s SmartBand SWR10 is a fully waterproof, 24/7 wearable device, which not only synchronises with your Xperia smartphone, but also tracks numerous data from your day-to-day activities – including how (in)active you’ve been – before logging everything in the newly announced, and rather aptly named, LifeLog software.

The stylish wristband boasts 5 days of battery life – perhaps aided by the lack of a screen – and offers a selection of physical interactions too, be that via its inbuilt vibration module, notification LED, or discreet button inputs.

For example as well as buttons for music playback, and email alerts via the flashing LED, the SWR10 fetaures a ‘Life Bookmark’ button which Sony says will record any special moment – using GPS and other recent meta-data to log everything from your location to the song you’re playing, or the last photo you took.

Currently there is no official word on a release date or pricing for the SmartBand, although this is expected shortly.
