Sony’s UK Managing Director, Fergal Gara, has quashed previous rumours of a PS4 and Vita bundle.
When asked recently if Sony had considered a bundle of its forthcoming next-gen console and existing handheld Gara replied Sony have “No firm plans at this stage to put the two together in one box”.
Gara went on to say how the recently announced Vita price reduction is what he would call “a nice coincidence in timing”, before talking about how lowering production costs and passing those onto the consumer is an ongoing concern for Sony.
“So we’ve hit a moment when we can do that and bring [the Vita] down in cost [and] that happens to time very very nicely with PS4, which further adds to the PlayStation Vita agenda.”
He didn’t however discount the possibility that retailers could combine the hardware themselves adding, “there is clearly the opportunity for us to work with retailers to put them together” – which still means we might see a pricey pack-in from the likes of Amazon or GAME ready for the Christmas rush.
Sony’s PlayStation 4 launches in the UK on November 29th.
