Bioshock Infinite Now Available On Mac

Irrational Games’ acclaimed Bioshock Infinite has today released on Mac devices. Published and ported by Aspyr Media – who’ve previously published Call Of Duty titles on Mac – the game is now available via Steam, the Mac App Store and Aspyr’s own GameAgent storefront.

Purchases made on Steam will receive both Mac and PC versions of the game, while purchasing from Aspyr direct will grant you 20% discount on the game’s RRP and include the Columbia’s Finest DLC pack free, which saves another £4 or so.

Bioshock Infinite’s first major DLC, the ‘Clash In The Clouds’ multiplayer challenge pack, was released earlier this month, with the first single player DLC ‘Burial at Sea’ – which sees a return to Rapture – also announced to be coming soon.

Xbox Live Marketplace Becoming Xbox Games Store

Microsoft is rebranding its Xbox Live Marketplace as the Xbox Games Store ahead of the launch of the new Xbox One console, it has been revealed.

The original Xbox Live Marketplace was an increasingly cluttered general purpose one-stop-shop for 360 users, offering not only games, but video, music, and other content too. The majority of that’s now been separated out into their more natural homes, however, with the new Xbox Games Store set to line up beside the existing Xbox Video and Music Stores.

The same distinction was made about a year ago for Windows Phone, when that platform dropped its own Marketplace moniker in favour of the more simple “store” suffix.

Forza Rewards Launched

Microsoft and Turn 10 have launched Forza Rewards, a loyalty scheme of sorts which lets you earn points by playing Forza games – going as far back as Forza 2. Accrued points can then, in turn, be redeemed against cars, in-game credits and more whilst playing Forza 4, Horizon and the forthcoming Forza 5.

Players will be able to use the new Forza Rewards website to compare their points level against friends and see which upcoming rewards they’ll be able to unlock each month.

Forza 5 will be coming to Xbox One at launch, this November.

Ghost Games Take The Wheel On Need For Speed Brand

In an interview with VideoGamer, Marcus Nilsson, Studio Head at Ghost Games, has revealed that the studio has taken control of the Need For Speed brand. Speaking at Gamescom, Nilsson discussed how EA is “now thinking about the brand as Ghost owns it”.

“It cannot go from black to white between Black Box and Criterion” he said. “We’re going to build it, we’re going to build it on Frostbite 3, people will see something they are familiar with every time we release the game. And I think that is the core basis of building a brand; that people know what to expect.” he continued.

“I think we now have the work of re-establishing that credibility with building the brand. You know, it’s still a really strong brand, absolutely. We just need to make sure people know what to expect when they get it, and Rivals is absolutely the first step toward that.”

Criterion – developers of the acclaimed Burnout Paradise and 2012’s Need For Speed Most Wanted – are known to be heavily involved with Rivals, but asked whether they will be involved with future games to such a degree Nilsson added: “No, you’re not going to see that. Criterion is absolutely helping us out a lot on this game and would we make something next year or whenever we do it, it’s going to be something that is ultimately driven from Ghost.”

Criterion’s next project has yet to be officially announced, but Alex Ward, Creative Director at the studio recently ruled out a new Burnout title, or any other racing game from Criterion – with his involvement at least.

“So many tweets asking for new Burnout. Equally many tweets asking for a new NFS game from us. Also Road Rash.” Ward tweeted back in April “After over a decade of making racing games it’s time to make something new.”

Ghost’s Need For Speed Rivals launches on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on November 22nd, with PS4 and Xbox One versions to follow.

First 2K Drive Dev Diary Video Talks Car Culture

The first in a series of video diaries from 2K Drive developer Lucid Games has been released online, and reveals more details about the upcoming racer.

In the video, Pete O’Brien – Lucid Games’ co-founder – describes the forthcoming iOS title as “an app about car culture as much as it is a driving game”, with other members of the game’s production team then preceeding to talk about 2K Drive’s digital “magazine” style, and the constantly fresh information, and gameplay challenges this affords to players.

As well as showing a little of the title’s unique gameplay modes, It’s been revealed 2K Drive will feature everything from “road cars, like the Fiat” to “hyper cars like the McLaren”, and every conceivable model in-between – be that classic, muscle, rally or tuners.

No official word on a release date, but if pricing’s right, 2K Drive looks like it will be a great app for petrol-heads when it launches “soon”.
